The Fairly Godparents Of Blue Ivy Carter Are…

The role of godfather has reportedly been given to Tyran ‘Ty Ty’ Smith, a close friend of Jay-Z’s—a conscious decision by the A-list parents to not choose blood relatives as Blue’s godparents.

However, everyone has been asking who the godmother is.  There has been speculation that it is Oprah, and earlier this morning, Oprah made a guest appearance on Hot97 (the first appearance ever I must add) and confirmed that she is indeed the godmother of baby Blue.
So, congrats to Mr. Ty Ty and Oprah!

Air Comet Calendar (PHOTOS) [NSFW]

“Attention, this is your Captain speaking.  Please don’t mind the naked stewardesses during the flight.  Thank you.”

Stewardesses employed by the firm decided on their naked protest after failing to get up to eight months of unpaid salaries.

More than 1,000 calendars featuring nine women in their flight caps, gloves and high heels have gone on sale for £13.

Adriana Ricardo, who poses as Miss August on an aircraft engine in high heels and a tiny bikini, said: “I think it’s a different and very elegant way of highlighting our plight.

“The rest of our colleagues are completely behind us.”

Air Comet operated long-haul services from Madrid to 13 destinations in central and south America as well as services in Europe.

The High Court was asked to intervene by a bank which had sued the airline for not meeting the terms of payment for its leased aircraft.

The Ecuadorian government and several Spanish consumer groups are planning legal action against the company for fraud.

Heidi Klum & Seal Getting Divorced

Just days after Seal confirmed he and wife Heidi Klum were separating after nearly seven years of marriage, the singer has already begun speaking out about the split. Over the past 24 hours, Seal began making the TV rounds to promote upcoming album, Soul 2, and to ease our fears about a nasty public split. “Just because you decide to separate, I don’t think you all of a sudden stop loving each other,” he said during the taping for an upcoming episode of The Tavis Smiley Show. “I don’t think you all of a sudden stop being friends.”

“Silent Hill” Causes “Urban Spelunking”

Have you ever watched a movie or played a game and thought, “Hey, that place looks awesome!”? Well, if you’ve ever played the game Silent Hill, and had that thought, your dreams can now come true, and you can die happy.

Centralia, Pennsylvania. Once a town with a population of about 1,000. Now, a ghost town. The towns major source of income was mining, but in 1962 an incident took place that  caused a fire to burn under the city. The atmosphere became more toxic than that of Saturn, and the town became inhabitable. In 2005, the population was a whopping 10. 10 people. Can you even imagine being there?

While this is the major and most popular “ghost town” in America, because of the Silent Hill games, there are many, many others just like it. An empty train station, an empty military fort, or an empty concrete factory (one of which I’ve actually attended, three times) these places are incredible to be at. It’s great to sit in the center of these areas and think about the history of it and all of the people that have been in that exact spot, perhaps thinking the same thing as you.

http://urbanspelunkers.com/ <– there is a list of “urban spelunking” websites.

DISCLAIMER: While the exploration of empty or abandoned places can be interesting, it can also be dangerous or illegal. If you decide it is something you want to try out, make sure you use extreme caution and follow guidelines.

Swizz Beatz’s Megaupload Shut Down By Feds

Megaupload’s problems continue to mount. On Wednesday, news broke that the popular file-sharing site had come under fire after Universal Music Group took issue with a promotional video featuring Universal Music Group artists like Kanye West, will.i.am and Diddy. Now, the site run by Swizz Beatz has been shut down.

On Thursday (January 19), the federal government took the action against Megaupload.com, and also arrested several members of the company, hitting them with multiple racketeering and copyright infringement charges, according to a statement issued to MTV News by the U.S. Department of Justice. A federal indictment alleges that the site, which allows users to transfer large files, has generated more than $175 million in criminal proceed and costs copyright-holders more than $500 million in lost revenue from pirated movies, albums and other materials.

Swizz Beatz, Megaupload’s CEO, was not charged in the indictment which was handed down on January 5, and as of now, it is unclear how the producer/rapper’s involvement with the company will play into the case. The Associated Press reported that Megaupload founder Kim Dotcom (also known as Kim Schmitz) was arrested Thursday in New Zealand along with three others.

The Department of Justice said that this is among the largest criminal copyright cases ever brought by the United States. The news broke a day after major websites like Wikipedia and Google protested against the U.S. House of Representatives’ Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, and the Senate’s similar Protect IP act.

SOPA Causing More Harm Than Good.

I’m sure that all of us have heard of the SOPA act in the past few weeks, whether online, through the news, or from an angry internet going buddy. SOPA is the Stop Online Piracy act, and it is circulating through Congress right now. The act is supposed to stop the sharing or illegal downloading of music, movies, and other internet software. After a year of major leaks, wouldn’t it make sense? Maybe to some, including the Country Music Association and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. But to many others, the act is an intrusion on the rights of internet goers everywhere. Some major internet corporations are openly against it, including Google, Facebook, Twitter, and Tumblr, because the act would make them block out sites that allow file sharing. But some websites are taking it to the next level. Jimmy Wales, the founder of Wikipedia, announced that his site, as well as many other sites, are going black on Wednesday the 18th of January. This movement is in protest of the SOPA acts. “If you want an Internet where human rights, free speech and the rule of law are not subordinated to the entertainment industry’s profits, I hope you’ll join us,” said Cory Doctorow of Boing Boing

HOWEVER. In the opinion of this young blogger, that is not the only thing getting people going. People complain that it is taking away democracy. But, if there is no vote at all, isn’t that the same censoring some websites? I mean all they want to do is take away the ability for people to STEAL from companies through piracy. So why not let the vote happen? Isn’t that what democracy is here for, for everyone to have the right to speak out? Let that sink in.

David Beckham: Re-signs When He Should Resign?

David Beckham, not only the International sex icon, is still known for his impressive free kicks. The two-time MLS all star has renewed his contract with the LA Galaxy for another two years, at the age of 36. A lot of former Manchester United fans have felt betrayed the last five years that Beckham has been away from his home city of London. They feel he should have stayed in London, playing for Manchester, then retiring like he should do.

Instead, he has renewed his contract with the Galaxy’s “super weapon.” Totaling  31 assists for them in 74 games, he has still proven dangerous on corners and free kicks. But, this wasn’t what he was famous for.

“Bend it Like Beckham” (2002), ended with the main character, an Indian girl named Jess, scoring from a free kick, bending it around the wall and scoring to win the game.

This is what he was famous for, back in his prime. He was the most dangerous man with the ball at his feet on set plays; he could make a goal from anywhere on the field.

Some say he is washed up, and is doing this for the money, but I’d like to think he really wants to help bring ‘football’ to America. It has been more popular over the last few years, but a veteran from the Premier League himself just might add the atmosphere needed for the MLS to be regarded as an internationally strong League.

Costa Concordia Satellite Image Shows Shipwreck From Space (PHOTO)

Commercial satellite operator DigitalGlobe has released a high-resolution satellite image of the Costa Concordia shipwreck as seen from space.

The Colorado-based aerial photography company operates its own group of satellites and contracts with commercial and government entities for defense, intelligence, mapping, environmental monitoring and other projects, according to their website.

The image, which was taken on Jan. 17 — four days after the luxury cruise liner capsized off the coast of Italy — shows the massive scale of the disaster and ensuing cleanup effort.

No Church In The Wild: Interpretive Video

Just stumbled upon this video after looking to see if there was an official video for Jay-Z and Yeezy’s “No Church In The Wild” off their album, Watch The Throne.

Unfortunately there wasn’t, but there was this.  A very artistic, fan made video which is a ‘must-watch.’
